Christ College Students get Revision Tips from Expert Frank - and a Glimpse of Life on Campus.

Year 11 students attended a fascinating lecture by Frank Harris, who shared his experience in the field of learning and skills development to help increase their revision skills.

Held at the University of Gloucestershire’s Francis Close Hall Campus in Cheltenham, Frank quickly had the audience of students recognising their capacity to learn facts and figures  - almost without realising they were doing so!

Says Frank: "My aim is to boost students' confidence by telling them that they have already been really successful at learning how to do all sorts of things, such as riding a bike, using a computer, playing a sport, pursuing a hobby etc.”

“I get them to think about how they became really good at something and they invariably reply with words and phrases like practice, trial and error, determination, sticking at it, learning from mistakes.”

“I then show that being successful at their school subjects is really no different and go on to demonstrate some effective learning techniques that will help them to become more successful in their studies."

Frank Harris has used these same techniques in the fields of business and sport as well as education to great effect.

After the lecture, students were also given a taster of university life when they were taken on a conducted tour of the facilities, and were able to ask questions about everything from coursework and accommodation to the thriving social aspects of university life.
