Christ College Creatives Show their Skills
at Pittville Performing Arts Day
Students
from Christ College joined in at a Gifted and Talented Performing Arts Day
held at Pittville School.
Musicians, actors, dancers, artists and sculptors also represented Pates, Dean Close, Pittville, Bournside, Winchcombe and Balcarras schools.
Funded by the Independent State Schools Partnership, the aim of the day was to encourage students to develop their talents through further education.
Sculptors set about creating animal figures, working from photographs and making wire armatures to build the shape around.
Artists honed their skills with fine detailed line drawings of small objects.
Dance and Drama workshops saw the students engaging in comprehensive warming up exercises before expressing their talents.
Musicians
of all styles and instruments pooled their abilities to create performance
pieces for the finale of the day.
Event coordinator for Pittville School Mick Miller said the day was: “A great success. I was pleased with the enthusiasm and commitment of both students and teachers. I was also impressed by the way the students interacted and co-operated, almost as if this was one school taking part, not seven.”
“Finally, the displays and performances were very impressive and well worth waiting for!”
ISSP Coordinator for Christ College Rekha Odedra said: “Our students were a credit to the school. It was a great opportunity for them to mix with similarly talented students from other schools, and they really enjoyed the day.”
