Christ College has got Talent—and Children In Need Benefit

A host of talent came to the fore at Christ College as the school put on a show to raise money for charity.

A rock band, singers, and a comedy drama group were among the acts competing, and the high standard made judging very difficult.

Runner-up was Tom Carr with Jack, a ventriloquist act. Tom has owned Jack for three years, and his influences include Ken Dodd, Keith Harris and recent America’s Got Talent winner, Terry Fator.

“One of the great things about ventriloquism, is that Jack can get away with saying things that I couldn’t!”, said Tom.

But the overall winner was Amy Pierce from year 7, who sang the Rihanna song, Take a Bow. Amy has always enjoyed singing, and had previously taken part in a talent contest when she was at St. Gregory’s school.

Mr Mick Guilbert, one of the judging panel, said: “Amy had so much confidence on stage and sang extremely well - a great contestant, and I hope she takes it further.”

Said Amy: “It was quite scary singing in front of so many people. I was very pleased to have won—my mum could hardly believe it!”

A grand total of £150.04 was raised from sales of tickets and refreshments, which went to Children in Need.
