Fair Game Theatre Group Ignites the Stage at Christ College
Christ
College was subjected to a
shocking display of anti-social behaviour when the
Stroud-based Fair
Game Theatre Company performed at the school.
Their production of Burnt Out told the story of Sean, a misguided 14 year old boy whose escalating series of pranks lead to him being seriously injured in a fire that leaves a man dead.
The actor’s performance was enhanced by the powerful use of urban music, striking lighting effects and a simple but ingenious modular set design, that took the audience from the graffiti-tagged inner city streets to the hospital room were Sean must confront the grim consequences of his actions.
An unusual aspect of this production is that at the end of the play, the audience are able to ask the cast questions ‘in character’ to better enable them to understand their motives.
“Burnt Out has been going down a storm in the schools we’ve played at,” said Rosa Verge, stage manager for the show’s three week run.
Actor
George McLean, who plays Sean said: “It’s always rewarding when
students genuinely enjoy performances like this, and sometimes even
have their attitudes to live theatre changed.”
