Primary Teachers Learn the Ropes on Bell Boat Training Day
Local
Primary School Teachers traded their class rooms for Pittville
Boating Lake for a day when they were given lessons in using Bell
Boats by Christ College’s Dave Potts.
The revolutionary twin-hulled craft were designed to open up paddle sport to a wider number of people than is normally possible with conventional canoes
Says Mr. Potts: “The purpose of the day is to train local primary school teachers to be Bell Boat Helms, and enable them to use the boats to experience outdoor activity on the water with their pupils”.
Participating on the course was Sharon Davies, PE Co-ordinator at Gloucester Road School:
“The Bell Boats are a brilliant Idea! They’re very stable and safe to use, and develop skills in co-ordination, timing and team work.”
She
adds: “It’s an all-round form of exercise that provides a new
opportunity for children to achieve in. I’m really looking forward
to taking our children out onto the lake.”
Sports Centre Manager at Christ College Dave Potts is a British Canoe Union Level 2 Coach as well as being a Bell Boat Helm Tutor.
