Christ College Celebrates Successful First Year in Style
The
talented students of Christ College took centre stage as the school
celebrated its first year.
Hosting the evening were the school’s own version of Ant and Dec, Tom Savory and Sam Morgan.
A slide show illustrated the range of exciting events that had defined the year, including the schools many sporting activities, their performances of Bugsy Malone at the Playhouse Theatre, and the spiritual dimension that makes Christ College what it is.
School
Rock band Quadranomix
performed one of their punchy, tightly rehearsed numbers, and then the drama
group performed a Big Brother –
inspired sketch that illustrated the fickle and fleeting nature of modern
celebrity.
Poetry readings, energetic interpretive dance and musical performances continued to captivate the capacity audience as the evening progressed.
Awards
for excellence, Sports colours and Head of Year awards were also presented
during the course of the evening.
It was a bitter sweet occasion for the event organiser, Head of English Craig Burns, as he is taking up post as Assistant Head at Chipping Camden School next term.
Said
Mr. Burns: “It’s been an excellent evening that wouldn’t have been possible
without the enthusiasm of the students and the support of the staff
involved. My thanks to them all.”
Christ College Head Teacher Mrs Teresa Gilpin said: “This has been an outstanding first year here at Christ College. I am very proud of the efforts of students and staff alike, and look forward to an even more successful second year”.
