Mother of Peace Orphanage says siyabonga* to Christ College
Christ
College was delighted to welcome Hugh and Irene Holland from the Mother of
Peace Orphanage in KwaZulu Natal. In an informative and sometimes moving
address, Mr. Holland spoke of how the orphanage came about, as the result of
a prayer group that wanted to do something practical to look after children
whose parents had been lost to AIDS.
The
Orphanage is located at a former sugar cane plantation, and the children are
clothed, fed and well looked after. They go to school, and there is a strong
spiritual component in their lives.
Additionally, Hugh and Irene received a cheque for £350 which was raised when the school took part in fundraising events last December (see Christ College Pupils ‘Walk the Walk’ for good Causes on this page).
*Siyabonga means thank you in Zulu. It is also the name of one of the children who lives at the orphanage.
