Drama students get physical in Theatre Workshop

Christ College students were visited by Physical Theatre Practitioner, Rosie Mason from Cheltenham’s Everyman Theatre.

The pupils were put through their paces with a series of exercises and scenarios designed to give them a grounding in the subject.

As the name suggests, Physical Theatre deals with the unspoken aspect of Drama. For example, an actor playing royalty doesn’t need to behave in a ’royal’ way. His status is shown by the reaction of the actors around him.

Rosie said: “The Christ College students were focused and enthusiastic, and did really well in this introduction to Physical Theatre skills”.

Drama Teacher Rosalia Robinson added: “The pupils enjoyed the variety of tasks and were able to understand what is needed to create a physical performance. They are looking forward to attending a physical theatre show.”
