ECO Week brings environment to the front of the class at Christ College
Environmental
issues were brought to the forefront at Christ College recently as they
held a week of Eco Awareness.
Mo Braham from
Gloucestershire County Council conducted a workshop illustrating a
timeline of how long different items take to biodegrade - sometimes
hundreds of years in the case of items like metal cans.
The importance of conserving resources by turning off unused lights and electrical appliance was also emphasised.
In addition, Art classes created themed pictures using recycled materials, trees were planted in the school grounds, and each year group had an Eco Assembly.
Science Teacher and Eco Award coordinator Lee Bradley said: “The first Eco Week at Christ College was a great success. The students were engaged with the activities and lessons delivered on the environment”.
“They are now in a
better position to educate their families so that more of the community
will recycle and understand the benefits of doing so”.
Christ College is already a recipient of the nationally recognised Eco Schools award for recycling.
