Christ College hosts science event - with a sporting difference!

Young scientists from seven local schools gathered at Christ College to conduct experiments with a sporting theme as part of the Gifted and Talented scheme.

Sessions included the study of the effects of exercise on the body (in which students heart rates where monitored while they used rowing machines), the biomechanics of the high jump, and nutrition in sport.

Christ College Sports Centre Manager Dave Potts Said: “This is just one of five separate days conducted at different schools in the town, and as a designated sports college, this is the perfect venue to conduct these sessions”.

Christ College teacher Liz Hackling said: “The students really enjoyed studying the science of sport, and we hope that they will be inspired to take up a career in the scientific field”.
