Official opening of Christ College a “Flagship of Reconciliation”

 

Friday 28th of September saw the official opening of Christ College, Cheltenham, the first joint Roman Catholic and Church of England school in the county of Gloucestershire.

 

The former St Benedict’s Catholic College is now the first joint Roman Catholic and Church of England school in Gloucestershire.

 

Bishop Declan Lang of the Catholic Clifton Diocese, and C of E Bishop of Gloucester Michael Perham officiated at the opening of the former St. Benedict’s School.

 

The opening ceremony was attended by year seven pupils, staff, governors and invited guests, including Cheltenham Mayor John Rawson and local MP Martin Horwood.

 

In his address, Bishop Michael spoke of Christ College as being a “flagship of reconciliation”, and the role that faith schools play in bringing people together and creating harmony and peace.
